The Passengers clip is the best one for testing, since both the HDR and SDR
versions are sanely mastered and available. The 4K clip is HDR (taken from the
UHD Blu-ray), while the 1080p clip is SDR (taken from the regular Blu-ray).

Beware the Planet Earth II clip, since the 4K/HDR version is oversaturated
beyond all common sense. Perhaps some engineer accidentally misconfigured the
target colorspace as BT.709 instead of BT.2020 when converting their footage.

The screenshots were generated using mpv's default tone mapping algorithm as
well as the settings --target-trc=gamma2.2 --target-prim=bt.709. All images are
rendered at 1080p for easier comparison.
